Pretty much as the title says whenever it is connected, it causes random system hangs i can't figure out for the life of me why though.
Sys Specs
Both DM10 Maxtor 300gb i know i know they fail.
both on a Asus A8n-SLI Deluxe BIOS is 1002 and both on the NV RAID controller. Ports SATA1 and SATA2, with the latter being the slave. The slave is newer but i don't see how that could cause a problem.

Edit whole system works fine, when i take the slave out of the system, plug it back in using the hot swapping thing. It recognises and it starts hanging. Just hangs even when not accessed. Also upgraded BIOS to 1011
Further development, the drive works in PIO mode albeit still hangs every now and then when its accessed. So how do i resolve this problem with PIO mode, and get it up to SATA I or II.
