Think about it? How many times you got your rocks off then fell asleep before finishing off the missus :)

Tried it pal:D Dnt work for me

Think I may pop round the doctors and see what he can do for me. It's been 4 nights on the bounce now. Didn't get asleep until 1:30 last night. I haven't been to the gym since tuesday. :(

Sumprised no one has asked this... talked about hormones and pills etc but no one has yet to established:

8am. I'm tried to get my body clock back on track because Sundays I usually get up at 10am and then Sunday evening I can't sleep. On Wednesdays & Fridays I get up at 10am and all.

Sounds to me like you're trying to fall off to sleep, happens with me some times... becomes an issue and instead of just lying in bed and dosing off thinking about random rubbish I lie there and after about 5 minutes start thinking... why aren't I asleep... why aren't I asleep.

Just make sure you're relaxed before bed... don't worry about it, watch the TV then stick some music on read, just take your time and chill :)

It's precisely whats happening I think :(

I don't get easily stressed but sometimes a thought pops into my head at night and that then starts the lack of sleep off.

there are some excellent 'sleepy teas' on the market which work really well, make them up hot and allow to cool add to fruit juice or squash and drink about 2 hours before bed. If done properly you will get a fantastic nights sleep and no chance of addiction. I also find putting the radio very quietly with radio 4 the news or such and set sleep 20 mins etc so its not on all night and the murmur of voices sends me off like a baby :)

I'm really at my whits end now. I was soo tired yesterday I could hardly keep my eyes open at work.

11pm comes.......i'm wide awake and i finally gets to sleep around one.

What is the name of this 'sleepy tea'. Pm me if you like. ;)

Thanks, previous poster. ;)

Are drugs like nytol (one a night) and various other sleeping aids like night nurse worth a go? Or are they not as effective as prescribed ones?

Thanks

No, they're worthless in my opinion. I read somewhere that they're basically just drugs for other things that have a side effect of making you drowsy. Try them though, they might work for you, but a doctor can and will sort out your sleep problems.

Well, I have sorted out my little problem with sleep by keeping my social life to a minimum just for about 2 weeks.

It's working, I am falling asleep in about 15 mins and getting about 8-9 hours sleep.

I'm still tired though, my eyes look really bad and i'm yawning throughout the day.

I think I wake up about 7 ish when my mum gets up as the dog goes crazy but then I fall asleep again for another hour.

I have had this sleeping problem for well over a year now so could it be that my sleep debt is huge? If so, will I ever get on top of it

Valarium helps a bit, but it tastes like poo
Eating before 6.00pm helps, and no alcohol.
try walking the dog, might help you sort out any nagging thoughts before bed.

when trying to sleep I try and block negative thoughts the second they appear, think about how to spend £10M :)

I can get to sleep in under a minute, but I'm stressed to the eyeballs so I wake up at 5am :(

Maybe a new matteress would help ?

.

Just had a new mattress.

There is nothing on my mind and falling asleep is not a problem anymore......it's more the fact I have had 3 lots of 9 hours sleep in the last few days and I still look like death warmed up

if you are still tired then maybe it's the quality of sleep that is poor ?

have a look in here: http://www.sleepnet.com/
someone on there mentioned 'light therapy' to help regulate sleep patterns

I get nightmares when I'm stressed, so I can get 8 hours of 'sleep' and still yawn all day :)
.

Well I went to the doctors and it doesn't seem like insomnia etc.

He gave me 2 weeks worth of Zopiclone tablets and for the last two nights they have been really good.

My next question is when will I begin to wake up refreshed in the morning?

At the moment i'm still waking up with stinging eyes.

I sympathise with you and understand completely.
I need 9-10hours a night but just cant get to sleep like you.
Nytol is carp imo. "Herbal" remedies can work but not a good idea to become dependent on anything to get to sleep eg some of the relaxing suggestions given already like sexual exertion.
Sleep when tired or get in bed when tired.
As for not feeling refreshed in the morning: tell me about it. Takes ages to wake up and get ready for the day.
But I find that after a few days of poor sleep I can pass out for 12hours. Maybe u just dont need that much sleep? I dont know u obviously but maybe a shower and an episode of south park (or something similar to make u laugh) before bed?
Sometimes works for me...
Perhaps some nice music playing in the background really softly would help u?
Is there anything troubling you apart from the sleep probs? Dealing with that (if there is anything there) may help?
Also put some music on in the morning I find it helps to rouse me faster and feel energized.
Good luck mate :)

There is nothing troubling me at all thats what makes it strange.

I'm just very curious how these shadows under my eyes will go. I hate them, they make me look ill and they are due to the fact I do not have enough sleep.

What I don't understand is for the last three nights now I've had 8 hours + sleep and my eyesight in the morning is awful and my eyes really sting.

Is it going to take a long time to get back to normal?

I sleep best after eating LOADS of food. then having some loving from the lady. Then im out like a light :D
