Sleeping at work

We have an engineer who is renowned for falling a sleep at his desk especially night shifts, needless to say he wont be with us much longer.

No need for it to be hidden here - we have "nap rooms" dotted about the site.

Regulary take 30 mins mid afternoon to recharge the batteries - power naps rock.

A couple of times I have dozed off while sitting on the toilet, but never for more then a few minutes.

Although for one previous job, we were in Bratislava, and were going out til about 3am every night drinking cheap beer  Next day in at work for 9am...and damn everyone was tired lol although I was the one whose eyes kept closing...team leader was not happy!

Only when we've had a few drinks the night before.

After my birthday last year I cycled in to work, felt fine getting changed but as soon as I sat at my desk, fired up my PC and looked at the screen I felt absolutely awful. THE worse hangover hit me and I could no longer hold my head up without feeling like I was gonna hurl. So I closed my eyes. Two hours later I woke up, nobody seemingly bothered, went to the loo, threw up, got changed then cycled home to sleep it off. All after a Tuesday quiz night! cushy place to work tbh!

Keep nodding off at work. Just had one today where I woke up, obviously from a dream where something happened, to find my hand suddenly propelling the mouse it was resting on at a million miles an hour off the desk :o

No-one particulary cares though, office jobs with nothing to do.

Can't really get away with it here - I'm at a desk right in the middle of all the project managers offices

However, a few months ago I was taking frequent naps in the car (or "running a quick errand") due to having a new baby and only a couple of hours sleep per night.

This happened many years ago at a company called "Wilton carpet factory"

They ran a night shift. It was only after the company discovered they had a leaking roof and got builders into sort the problem that management found bunk beds built into the ceiling joists. Apparently for years the night shift regular rotated who slept and who worked!

I've slept a few times while being "on call/standby" during the day after a heavy night out, never in the office though :(

I've had a wee nap on dust sheets once, always feel groggy after a nap so i've never done it again. But i was once working in this house with a joiner, he was sanding a floor down in a bathroom, i was in another room working. I went in to see if he was ready for his break, but he was fast asleep face down and arms stretched out on the floor, heres the thing...he had an electric sander in each hand, both were on still! I turned them off and all you could hear was him snoring haha. Always makes me laugh thinking back.

Fell asleep standing up while leaning against a broom on shop floor of bookers once... Imagine my surprise when being prodded by a customer. If I hadn't of fallen over my subconcious might have attacked him with said broom.

Damn those late night quake sessions in my youth.

Quite often grab a twenty minute nap on my lunch break, feel much better for it and no chance of over sleeping as we has a big hooter lol

When I worked at Sun microsystems in san Francisco there was a medical room with a bed in it, you could lock the door and get a good 1 hour rest. However, I still preffered this remote corner at the back of the very large server room. Hiding behind an E25K wa noisy and the server room was cool, but if you put one of the test scripts to run on the server when all 168CPUs ran at 100% load things would get nice and toasty

Working on a call floor, theres really no way I can take a nap at work. The noise level isnt too bad, but I would be spotted almost immediately if I tried it. Plus when the call volume is high, I'd have the constant noise of customers chattering in my ears to keep me awake.

I used to catch quick catnaps on the way to/from work on the bus, though I dont generally feel the need to do that anymore. Think my body has gradually got used to getting up at the crack of dawn and doesnt beg me for sleep as much.

working with HP indigo presses, the room is kept at a constant 20c, and 48% humidity... so yes, its quite easy to curl up behind them and have a doze. :D

not that ive ever done it before. ;)

I have a sofa at work where I sleep, it's next to my office.

Problem?
