Anyone used this? Just seen an ad saying that Boots now sells the equipment. I'm currently laid up following an op on my knee and wondering if this may assist whilst I recover and get back on my feet.

I might be letting curiosity get the better of me as I don't normally take aqn interest in such stuff but i'm bored out of my head lazing about.

Not sure about the slendertone abs thing, but many years ago I found one of those electric stimulators really helped me with anterior knee pain. I found it a brilliant way to to strengthen vastus medialis muscle in pretty much isolation , it also seemed to work a bit like a TENS machine for the pain I was getting.

I doubt you will ever get big and strong with these things, but it did fix a problem I had had for years, that physio etc wasn't helping.

Ask yourself this question. Do you really think it works? or do you just wish it worked?

Grab a dumbbell and then get someone else to pick your arm up for you... that should work right? :p

Highly unlikely to agree with this chap on much - me being a cardio freak and all that, so no offense meant :p

But, Slendertone - No no no no no no no!!

The idea behind it should work, apply electric current to make your muscle contract is like doing exercise. But the amount of current needed to make it effective would properly make it not legal :P

Slendertone @ 220V then may be it will work :)

I remember Bruce Lee used to strap himself to one of those high current machine to train at some point

My missus has one of the Slendertone system thingies with the detachable controller and it definitely works. I tried it and the next day felt distinctly sore just as if I'd done too many sit-ups.

what does being sore prove?

You can have an immense workout and not be sore the next day, you can have a terrible workout and be very sore, it's a poor way to judge.

Well I didn't really think it worked but hey if you don't ask you don't know.

Looks like I'm just going to have to rest up and ease back into the gym :(
