I've got a Asus 470 gtx, I've seen that they are going for about £60. Should I buy a second one, or should I sell the 470 and get something for £120? Dont mind second-hand

It's a nice setup if you can keep the noise and heat under control, the stock coolers were a bit much for me.

My PSU has just dies, which is why I'm getting the upgrade bug. I will probably get the xfxx 750w modular PSU.
My monitor is the Asus VG236HE and I run it at 1080

I have an i7 920 @ 4GHz and a pair of Gigabyte GTX 470 SOCs, and personally I wouldn't be happy with a 750W PSU for them. They have been fine with a Corsair HX 850 though. Note the TDP for your CPU is 95 watt, mine is 140W (and pushing 200W at 4GHz).

You might be OK with a 750W PSU if you don't have a heavy OC.

The GTX 470s will smash most games, but they are limited by their VRAM, which has been a problem with crysis 2 and the high res texture pack for me. Other than that I've not had significant problems with the VRAM.

A 7950 overclocked should be faster in most games (plus it'll also run cooler and draw less power- as well as getting rid of any potential SLI issues).

That's a big price difference tho, think I'll just get a second 470. That should keep me going for another year or so

I went from 470 SLI to a 670.
Performance is a slight backwards step but because I game at 1440p the vram was causing problems. A 7950 would be a backwards step at 1080p because vram isnt much of a concern at that res unless you heavily mod Skyrim etc. To match 470s in SLI you'd need a 7970 or 680, probably overclocked.

Edit- 470s in SLI drove me to water cooling. They did produce a lot of heat with stock coolers, especially the top card and even at stock speeds. I am talking 95c :D

On a 670wf now after coming from gtx 470's in sli, performance is pretty similair, 470's were clocked at 750mhz, 670 at 1310mhz, but i dont have to worry about vram anymore. It got pretty close to the limit on bf3 with any amount of msaa on ultra preset. The most impressive results for me personally are the reduction in temps/noise and the massive drop in power consumption.
