SLI 770's 55% usage in BF3 Upgrade to i7

I just did a very quick test and my GPU load was between 60% and 85% but average was 81%. CPU load was average 61%.
Average FPS on all Ultra settings was 88.

There is a common problem being shared on the BF4 forums at the moment regarding the CPU being stretched to 100%. If I were you, I wouldn't base any decision on the Beta performance but instead see what the retail edition plays like as we know the Beta is a much older build.

Multi card frostbite needs as many threads as possible, so its i7 time.

It coming out of beta isn't going to magically reduce the amount of threads the game requires for pushing two high end cards, this was happening in bf3 & no doubt will be about in retail bf4.

I will not be upgrading because of BF4 beta that would be silly :) but i do have the same issue with BF3 and these are my main games i play so hence the upgrade.

My average GPU usage in BF3 is 60-70% on both cards so pretty low and CPU around 80-90+%
@ mjenabi2 I have a 1155 M/B and I don't want the extra cost of this as well, And for how much gain? 5-10% ?? maybe another time :)

Are you running windows 8?

I have a 2500k clocked at 4.6 and a 690 GTX and my average CPU load is 70%, GPU utilisation is a constant 100% (more or less); I would be surprised if you CPU is the bottleneck (even if it is clocked slightly slower).

I was running windows 7 and had really bad stutter and lag. GPU usage was bouncing from 2% to 100% all game.

I upgraded to windows 8.1 (because of direct x) and game is now smooth as silk.

Interesting about 8.1. I am only using Windows 8.0 at the moment. I was waiting for 8.1 to come out officially as it is only a few days away. The trouble is, the beta finishes today!

I went straight from Win 7 to 8.1 so cannot comment on windows 8 but the difference when I upgraded was night and day (I have access to MSDN so got the enterprise version, doubt that would make any difference however).

Might be worth holding off on an upgrade?
