Hi folks,

I have an Axle 460GTX 1Gb Ace edition..

Possibly planning an upgrade of my machine... inc upgrading to SLI MB.

Does anyone
a. Have one of these cards?
b. SLI'd it with a different branded 460GTX
c. Any things I need to be aware of if going down this route?

I previously tried SLI with 8800GTX, and could not get them working together, so I would prefer to try something thats already been tried and tested.

I know my GPU is rare, particularly in the UK...

Also, does anyone know if there are places to by Axle products in UK?

Thanks in advance!

never heard of that make of card before but i dont see any problem with u putting it into sli with an other make

maybe some one else on here can suggest a decent board that clocks well and get at least 3.6 with that q6600

i also had problems with the 8800gtx in sli but i think that was down more to the the crappy evga 680i

not had a problem with sli since moving to the x58 chipset works great every time

You should be fine with any other 1gb 460 gtx, however when it comes to motherboards for sli on s775. Your limited to nforce 6/780i, theese are possibly the worst boards to try and clock a q6600 on. The best of the lot was the 790i, but that board was ddr3 only.

FOUND A LITTLE INFO

Eastern graphics card partner for Nvidia, Axle, is due to jump from its predominant China, Hong Kong, Korea and Malaysian market base and will set up camp in the land of Germany come the third quarter of 2008. While competition is good, is yet another Nvidia partner really what we need? However, having said that, Zotac has successfully done it since just last year.

The Hong Kong based business makes the usual standard sticker re-branded partner cards, as well as overclocked and unique cooling products where it can and over a Sushi dinner (yea, I couldn't help but drop that in) bit-tech was told by Willy Wong, Director of Axle, that the company also aims for very low prices too. We can't argue with that.

We pressed but were told it was too early to say what products will be launched first over here, and even if the box design and package will mirror that of the Asian markets.

Axle are also releasing a 570 and 580 gtx should be intresting to see how their prices fair

gibbo if u read this can u give us a heads up on this company at all?

Thanks for the replies guys!!
If it was possible, I would buy another Axle GTX460, as It's been completely smooth running since I bought it in Singapore a few months back and despite what reviewers wrote, it aint noisy... the Domino ALC WC 'thing' is far noisier!

Saying all that, again, is it even possible to Sli triple slot cards? Yes, I did say triple slot! lol Its seriously wide!

Anyway, so if the only Sli boards I can clock my Q6600 decently on is the 790i - kinda makes it a no go..considering the extra cost of upgrading the RAM....aswell as MB and extra GPU..

Just reading through expected CPU's for 2011... and ... I'm confused as to what direction I wann go in.
Any ideas to how the new breed of processors i.e.Sandy / AMD will compare to top end current CPU's:
i.e. Core i7 Extreme i7 980X 3.33GHz Socket 1366 12MB Cache
(think I can get one of these on the cheap - if I'm nice to a certain person :) )

a 980x how cheap? board and mem for that processor can be had for under £240

no idea how the new sandybridge will pan out but they going to be released early 2011 so its a wait and see game

i dont intend to upgrade from i7 till at least ivy bridge or later.

as to your triple sized 460 gtx i think u going to have to sell that theres no board i know of thats going to let u fit 2 triple slot cards in sli may be go for the 560 gtx when it comes out

980x... I'm hoping £200 - £250... He gets one item massively discounted every year through work, and did say I could probabaly use it for 2011 and he knows nowt about PC's
So sub £500 would be pretty sweet price including Ram and MB no?

Anyway, I know I should wait because I think I could get same percentile discount on any - but the itch is telling me otherwise... NOW NOW BUY TOYS NOW!

AS for the Triple slot 460GTX....
I think I am ok having it in the bottom Sli slot paired with a normal sized one in the top slot... will just cover over a PCI-E 1x I imagine.
