I read a very long time ago you could do it, but where I don't remember.
I don't think people are put off by doing a Registry Hack. I think what puts them off is it is a rather pointless thing to do, spending money on an expensive 4gb card then wasting it by pairing it up with a 2gb card.
I think most people buy a 2gb card first so the matter never comes up anyway.
