the battery would last about 2seconds so what's the point? seems silly to me, bet it weighs a ton too.

The battery is a ma-hoo-sive 6600mAh unit. We didn't get a chance to test how long it lasts, but our initial impressions is that it will power the machine for around 45 minutes without being plugged in (although you won't be able to use SLI when you're on battery power, since the 7800 cards clock right down to save power).

not really much point in SLi'd graphics cards in a lappy if you can't use it "on the go"... :-/

Well its kinda pointless... but having the choice is good (although i dread to think about how much it costs).

I've seen one for £1300. Not bad, but not exactly good seeing as it has no laptop functions, i.e. portable.

You may not be able to play games with it on the go due to battery life.

But it be great for just being able to pick it up and take to work, friends house, holidays, baby sittings, different rooms in your house, play games in bed etc etc and then just plug it in and play all your favorite games...This is what i like one for..

Its called 'desktop replacement' by minimizing clutter and having your 'puter in an all in one package.

That'll warm your particulars if you have it on your lap !

I'm betting heat + noise + power consumption make it quite an unattractive proposition, although its nice to see that it can be done on the GO chipset variant.

Personally I'd rather have an X1800XT mobility in a laptop right now.....Dunno if or when we might see a 7900 Go in a laptop.

It appeals to me, i wouldnt want to be using it on the go anyway. Id be busy if im out no time to play games. If your on a train theres power plugs by your seat.

Would sit in my bed or downstairs with it plugged in sitting on my lap tho. :D

wouldnt be able to do that really... our bed cover would cause the laptop to over heat... I know... I have tried it... there is a reason that they are really called a desktop replacement instead of a laptop....

I think SLI laptops should be considered portable desktop replacements. Battery life shouldn't really be considered. It'd be very nice for a lan party or a student who moves between uni and home a lot imo.

That is a nice bit of kit, but as some have said, takes away the whole aim of a laptop which is to be portable, unless you are working at the national grid :D
