Sli my 8800GTX or get a better cpu.

The price of 8800 will not drop in a month. It will not drop until R600 comes out. And if R600 doesn't beat the 8800, the price all the more won't drop.
 
As per usual there aint no right or wrong its all down to personal choice and preference, soom peeps like to hold on to there money until they have to spend it and others (like me) it burns a huge hole in thier pocket and they have to just spend it.

Guys without a 8800gts/x please stop advising against him getting another, just becuase you dont have one doesnt mean you have to bs about 2 being a waste.

another GTX will allow him silly amounts of AA, any c2d over 3.6 is enough grunt for SLI.

sure a quad core @ 4ghz will be more impressive but he will still see the benefits of a 2nd card, oblivion/fear/cod2 @ 1900x1200 with 16xCSAA will tax anything you can throw at it.

if you have the cash and want more performance go for it, don't listen to ppl who speak out their pooper.
 
i used rivatuner to force 16xAA and 16xAF on my single 8800gtx and i get really low fps spikes in farcry (with hdr+aa) oblivion and graw, and nfsc and thats at 1920*1440 or 2048*1536 - go for another 8800gtx and get 32xAA - haven't seen that one yet. Of course I am running a toledo @ 2.6ghz with ddr434, so it could be that my cpu is squashing it. But when DX10 comes out, you might be glad of the extra pushy power.

Then again you could save up and buy another 2 gtx's and get tri-sli...... :D

I was eating when typing that. Basically I was saying that, we don't have to prove to him how we justify paying so much for 8800 SLi. And I was asking him to get a pair of 8800 and notice the performance himself. Because all these stuffs are best if you have the first hand exprience to it.
 
All sorted now ordered a another BFG 8800GTX and QX6700 :D
That should sort me out for a while. :)

Nice choice mate. Just that Im running X6800 ;( not getting the QX now I think, don't see the need. But but but might give in to personal desire LOL.
