Sli or Crossfire???

I am still researching components, etc, before I take the plunge in buying my first bit of kit to build my 1st pc but there is a question I would like clarifying: -

When people talk about motherboards & graphics cards they mention SLi & Crossfire configurations. What is the difference & which is better?

SLI and crossfire are dual card configuarations by nvidia and ATI. Main difference is the way the cards are linked together.

Personally i woulnt bother with eiither as a single high end card would be better

They are competing multiple GPU technologies

Sli from Nvidia
Crossfire from ATI

IMO either isn't worth it, your better off with a faster single GPU.

I am lookin to build a new pc but all the mobos seem to be crossfire nowdays?

Would the new ATI DX10 card run on crossfire ?

In theory Crossfire is superior and more efficient, but SLI has wider game and profiles support.

what mobo is good for sli and around 150-160?? they all seem to be crossfire

Asus P5N 650 SLi
BFG 680 SLi
EVGA, MSI, etc...

TBH, don't bother with SLi or Crossfire, a single faster card is better (and less hassle).

I find sli very useful woth my dell 24" monitor when playing games life bf2 one card had no chance

A single 8800 series would be far better and less hassle. This is from someone with Sli!!
