Im looking to build a new unit, possibly with a i7 cpu not completely decided yet

however! my main issue is with this whole sli milarky!

I use my pc for mainly 3D artwork software packages (Maya / 3DS MAX)

I have dual screen

I want to be able to run both monitors nicely, I also play EVE online and want to be able to easily run a separate client on each monitor again with ease.

are there any / many issues with running sli with 2 monitors??

would I be better off spending my money on say... 2 x nvidia 260's SLI or on a 295

thanks in advance!

theres no point if ur only using it for 3d art work and only playin a few games SLI is meant for hardcore gaming or when ur gfx card is getting slow and u either upgrade or get a bit more power!

That said you could almost buy 3x GTX260's for the price of a GTX295.

In that setup the trisli system would be faster.

If i were doing it i'd go for two 260's @ £300 - the money left over from the difference in price could be better spent elsewhere IMHO. :)

3d work is very demanding and as previously said sli 260's would be a lot cheaper than a 295 but the only problem is you have to have one of those evil nvidia chipset boards

remember big card like 295 take lots of power from PSU so you need good PSU and yes just 1 of GF 295 that give you great stuff. I used 2x GF 9600GT XXX and enabled as SLI seem nicely and great on 3d gaming - i dont need big card as I just smaller and slim card like 9600GT seem good one.

Nvidia and ATI keep build up new card for the future so it up to you to spend big cash to buy new one.
