My setup is
z77a gd65, 3570k, 8gb 2133 2 x 4gb, 2 x mx ssd's.

with the system listed could i power two 970's(150w cards) with a SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 650W

I run two GTX660s (140w) and an i7 3770k off an XFX 650w PSU and it seems to handle them fine, the PSU doesn't seem to be any louder than before and its about 3 years old now.

I had a XFX 550w PSU fail after running HD 7850 crossfire overclocked with this rig after about 3-6 months so I'd make sure you have at least 850w imo, especially as you have a higher powered CPU (I didn't have a overclock back then on my i5).

i dont over clock, so the cards will not go over stock power needs 300w for both and same with cpu 77w.

i think i will drop a 750w in as that is recommended by nvidia

850W is excessive. 750W would leave more than enough headroom for overclocking shenanigans.
