I'm looking to buy a PSU for my 9800gtx+ SLI, I was unsure what power supplies could handle this?
any quality 650w or more.
Brands to look for are, corsair, antec, seasonic, ocz, bequiet, enermax. and the coolermaster silent pro range.
That's really bad advice what you need is 50 Amps or more on the 12v rail really not all 650's have that and I don't need to link to a review site to back me up.
Someone tried running 2x 5770's on a 40 (A) corsair hx520 psu and it wasn't happening guy had major issues so to say "any 650 psu" is just plain bad advice really.
just make sure you get one with at least 50 amps on the 12v rail.
C64 - your point is valid, but are there any quality 650W PSUs that do not run 50+A on the 12V rail?
i think you missed the point... I'm agreeing with you, that any quality 650W PSU should do the job.
C64 is right though, it would be possible to build a 650W PSU that suppled less than 50A on the 12V rails, and it is that number which makes the difference. I was asking him to name one from a quality manufacturer that did, because I don't think there are any.
and the Antec Signature 650W has a max load of 43A on the 12V rails...
