SLI quick questions - upgrade from single 560 Oc Ti

Hello all,

I have only ever used single GPU's for my gaming, but now I'm taking the plunge into 1080p 120hz and want to continue running my games on tasty ultra settings with AA etc.

Current system:
i5 at 4.4ghz
8gb ram
MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 1gb
OCZ Pro 700w Silent SLI Certified

I play mostly Battlfield 3, Skyrim and Shogun 2

I have limited space in my case (Antec P900), so heat could be a problem. Could anyone advise on whether to just order another 560 and be done with it, if so - which to go for to match up? Or sell up this card (only had it a few months) and go for a single GPU solution?

How does it work with drivers also?

Sorry for the rather open ended questions...just sat here on payday with my mouse hovering.

My mate just bought two 560Ti's in SLI and said there is a major bug with 560Ti's and 570's in SLI in BF3 with Ultra settings only. Symptoms seem to be crashing back to desktop or crashing Windows and he states there is no fix at the moment. :(

Strangely, I have 2 x EVGA 580's in SLI with no problems in BF3 on Ultra???

I have the MSI GTX 460 Hawk Edition in Sli and I have no problem running BF3 on Ultra
settings in BF3, works perfectly.

I also have been thinking about doing this but like above, a friend of mine has 2 560's in Sli and he crashes to desktop on the first server he joins in BF3 and then after that it works fine.

My 24" Benq monitor order has been shipped - so going to have to sort out the GPU situation in the next day or so in time for my time off work to game! Any advice would be appreciate.

Would I be limited by VRAM with 2 x MSI 1gb 560 Oc Ti's ? Would it make sense to sell it on and get cards with more VRAM? or...?

There is no bug for me, obviously the people who are crashing has some conflicting problems on their PC, I advise backing up data, formatting and re-installing OS, drivers etc, then you will have no problem.

I have posted many times on this forum the same thing, I wish it was stickied as there is a lot of people lately asking the same thing, anyway I have 560 Ti in SLI and I can run battlefield with the following settings:

Cards = GTX 560 Ti SLI
Res = 1920x1080
Advanced settings

graphics quality = custom
texture quality = ultra
shadow quality = ultra
effects quality = ultra
mesh quality = ultra
terrain quality = ultra
terrain decoration = ultra
antiliasing deferred = 2xmsaa
antiliasing post = high
motion blur = on
anisotropic filter = x16
ambient occlusion = HBAO

frame rates

Min, Max, Avg
77, 161, 90.217

So as you can see there is no issues and frame rates are perfect.

You won't be disappointed in a second 560.

the 1GB VRAM issue is non existent in SLI and is overexagerated.

With one card yeah it can be a issue, but with 2 of them there is no problem, I only game at 1080p but I max every game and frame rates don't drop below 60.

My mates PC is a brand new build with a fresh install of Win 7 and fresh Nvidia drivers all built & installed yesterday.

He can play MW3 no problem, 3D Mark 11 and 3D Mark Vantage are no problem.

He still has a problem with BF3 in Ultra settings :(

Another 560 GTX Oc Ti up on the members market, so I'm going to grab it quick and SLI the pair.

Just need to order a bridge, right? or anything else? Also, what's the procedure with drivers for SLI?

_Should_ have got a bridge with the motherboard if it supports SLI. When you restart with the 2nd card in it should install the drivers for the 2nd card and then pop up with a bubble in the system tray saying something like "SLI capable GPU setup detected click here to enable SLI" (can't remember the exact wording off the top of my head).

Hmmm I don't remember getting a bridge - am I able to just buy another? Couldn't see any up on the OcUK website :(

Well I've just purchased my second MSI 560 ti oc :D Should be a beast of a system now, just need to find an SLI bridge for my Gigabyte P67A-UD4 - think I've lost it.

Hi, what was the out come like? you happy with the increase in performance? Thinking of buying a 2nd one myself and would like your opinion if it's worth it.
