I have currently got a XFX 8800 ultra card if i was to do an SLI do i have to get an dentical card or can i just use a card with in the 8 series ?

And what are the additional benefits I can receive when I set up an SLI rig ?

Many Thanks

:D:D

No you cant just use any 8 series card it as to be the same card as the one you have, 8800 ultra, but it doesn't have to be the same manufacturer.

As for benefits, well what resolution do you game at?.It would be pointless going SLi if you game at a low resolution.

You will need another 8800 ultra but to be honest at 16xx res its a huge waste of cash.

You'll also need an SLI motherboard and a fairly beefy psu as well

so if i get another 8800 ultra from the same manufacturer (xfx) if the part numbers are slightly different meaning slight difference in speed can i use that to sli or is that going to slow down my ther card ?

You can use a 8800 Ultra from any manufacturer.

If you get 1 from that is slightly slower then I believe (but not sure on this) it will run both cards at the slightly slower speed.

I'm sure I read that you can use any 8800 cards in SLI but it will only operate at the slowest cards speed. Anyone confirm this?
