Sli To Single Card

Alright, Hi again.

Assuming my sig is still in place, Its been a while since i've been on here shopping. I'm looking at upgrading my graphics cards, as a certain game has shown me it might be time.

But not running on a lot of cash at the mo, So im thinking more along the lines of swapping down to a single decent card.

So my question is.

What single card would replace my two cards, 2x 512mb 6800 ultras, beating them stroke for stroke.

I'm outta the loop for now, and would hate to buy a card and find out my two old cards out performed it.

i think the 8800gts would be your best bet. depends on your budget either to get the 320mb or 640mb version. either way it'll blow those 6800 ultras away.

apparently the 320mb can be had for less than 200 sheets if you look around.

Chances are you could still get a couple of hundred for the FX-57 which would easilly fund a new mobo/CPU if you fancied going the whole hog

I just changed from Sli'd BFG 7800GT's, A64 4000+ to the rig in my siggy. My new rig is massively more powerful than my old one. The old one used to get me 6315 marks in 3D06. The new one gives me 9723 marks and i have'nt even clocked the graphics card yet. I also reckon the cpu has more to give. Games performance is also massively improved and the image quality is awesome. You should see what Far Cry looks like now.
