I've currently got a GTX550ti 1GB, and have been looking for another to SLI it. I've found one which has 2GB.
The nVidia site says it won't work, but a few bits I've found online indicate it should 'downgrade' the 2GB card to match and work fine.
Any thoughts?

It will work. it'll downgrade to 1gb only.

I'm not sure 550ti in sli is worth it tho. I guess it depends on the price you can get another for

Cheers guys.
Going SLI is probably the cheapest I can do at the moment. These cards have sold for £40-£70, so if got one for £50, it'll increase my performance buy 60-80% at a guess.
Unless you can suggest a better second hand card for around £100 that'll give me that increase? (That's if I can get £50 for mine).

It _should_ work but in some instances you may need to use 3rd party software to make it work iirc coolbits but its awhile since I played around with SLI and different amounts of VRAM per card.

Just use HyperSLI. If it's gonna work, it'll work. If it ain't it'll BSOD.

You need a CPU that supports Virtualization or you'll have to run it in software mode which is pants.

I bought myself a OCZ Revodrive a while back and had to use HyperSLI so I could use it with my GPUs. I used it to hack open the X4 lane for use with SLI as Nvidia disable it, but, will be trying it out on a non SLI board soon.
