SLI without a bridge, 7800's?

Hi there, just got a new motherboard but I completely forgot about the OEM-no stuff ways... Now I know that lower end cards can be used in SLI without the bridge, however is it possible with higher end cards? (256mb 7800GTX)

I've got a bridge on order off the bay but it will take a couple days to arrive. I'll give the bridgeless a shot regardless but just wanted to see what people thought? Both lanes are x16, if that makes a difference...

Cheers for that link, was just wanting to check, I figured the bridge would be necessary, otherwise why include it...
