I'm talking about regular supermarket plastic-wrapped sliced bread (like hovis/warburtons/kingsmill etc) - not the 'freshly baked' stuff.

How long would you be happy to keep it for and use it for sandwiches? (not including freezing)

For me it's probably only 2 days max (including day of purchase). 3rd day would be toast only, then 4th = bin.

Never had it last less than 4 days, tho goes quite quickly after that - 5 days max. I use 50/50 stuff tho dunno if it makes a difference.

Until it either has mold, or goes too hard that it wouldn't taste very nice. I think i got a loaf once that lasted 10 days, was chuffed with that, but then i get others that get mold in 3 days.

A good method for keeping it fresh longer is before scrunching the top and spinning it tight and putting the yellow tag back on, first suck out all the air, this should eliminate a lot of the moist air. Easily adds 2 days to the life of the bread I've found. Just don't do it in front of anyone though or they'll think you're bonkers.

This - although I rarely buy bread nowadays.

The bread I make myself tends to only last 2-3 days before it starts to get a bit firm so, since I live alone and will rarely eat a whole loaf in that time, I usually freeze half of it as soon as it has cooled properly.

4-7 days , unless its the summer time it wont go mouldy and will still be exactly the same as when it was bought.

during the summer it wont last long without beeing kept in the fridge

I keep it untill it goes mouldy, and even then if it tastes ok I will use it for toast (After cutting the mould off) Though as A note I never have chance for it to go Mouldy unless I get excited and buy too much bread...

You are the only person in the world who does that.

I spin it tight then use a clip to keep it closed, rather helpfull I find :)

I freeze our bread on the day of purchase and take it out slice by slice as and when we need it. It stays lovely and fresh that way and lasts for ages :)
