Slight change in career....working in another country

How did you guys go about applying for jobs, did you apply from the UK first then went over or you applied when you moved after?

Any particular websites you used for international jobs?

Not really, just look for companies in your industry in the place you want to go and start poking through their vacancies. Look for some agencies there, get a CV out. Have a hunt around LinkedIn etc.

If you're not in a hurry, just start like this, you've nothing to lose. When you're a bit further down the line and want to kick things on, arrange a trip over to where you want to go and get some meetings with recruiters lined up.

I'm in Fribourg and I love it here. I would never move to Geneva or Zurich though as I think they're horrible places to live in and don't represent Switzerland at all.

Lots of expats life those cities though as you never have to bother integrating or leaning the local language there.

What's wrong with those places, exactly?

I won't be one of those people if I do indeed move to Switzerland :)

I can't remember the site. It might have even been indeed.com, something crap either way. Just happened to see it was in Basel and thought why not. Wasn't even looking for a job abroad. A month later I was living there.

Thanks, looked at indeed.com. Just the see what international IT job were around the world.

One thing I like to ask about Switzerland as i have never been there before. How do they take to people of colour?

Me being a black male, i would never set foot in countries such as Poland or Russia.

When I visited Berlin and HK i never had any issues there.

Switzerland is a fine place. Had a grand time chasing a motorbike up and down a mountain. :D

What roads!

(I really hope there are no cameras on them :D)

If you were in a car you should have had no chance at all, unless they weren't Swiss :p. Even the Swiss learners can be seen grinding their foot pegs around the mountains.
