I have just OC'd my Q9300 CPU from 2.5 to 2.8ghz. it seems to be running OK at this with very little temperature increase (about 67c) even when gaming.
I have not adjusted any voltage settings.
If i tried going for 3.0ghz would this be too much?
The processor is only using the standard cooler at the moment.

Thanks.

Try it but just watch those temps.

OK thanks. I am also considering getting a QX9650 3ghz Extreme processor and OC,ing that to give my pc a bit of a boost.

I think you will be wasting your money as 775 is old now and if you sold your 775 stuff now for about £150 then you could spend around £400 on i5, board and ram. That would cost you about ~£250. and to upgrade to a QX9650 it would probley cost you around ~£150. You would probley get about ~4.2GHz. The I5 would be much much faster.

I have thought about upgrading but i am perfectly happy with my current system so will do a full upgrade in the future.

I recently missed out on a brand new QX9770 going cheap so a QX9650 will do me for now.
