Got my mac from eclipse, phoned up zen and they said i cant have max or even a 1mb connection! I have to have a "home500" connection as my line doesnt support any higher.

I said i was connected at more than 1mb and they asked for a screen shot and when i sent it (the below one) they said it was wrong as the SNR was too low and I was lying/confused (yes those words!!)

So is there something wrong with my connection or are they (him the bloke) just wrong as its been connected for over 24 hours without connection?

Also theres no "SNR" on there so what is t andhow did he know it was too low

Edit : Sorry about bad jpg compression

The SNR that he refers to is the downstream noise margin. He is right in that it is too low to maintain a stable connection - you'll probably see it drop out and resync occasionally, but I've certainly seen a line connected with an SNR that low before.

The recommended minimum SNR for a stable connection is 6db. In short your line can easily support at least 512k but fixed-rate 1mbit is indeed unlikely to be available to you. Your line attenuation is 63db and BT's limit for this is 60db. I see no reason why they won't put you on ADSL Max however.

Ahh alright..

theres been no resyncs since being under 1300 connection and was @ 200 hours before i had to reboot it!

So what do i do with zen? Or do i try someone else?

edit : I'll try calling them again and see why no max, my exchange as it so hmm

The default with their home user products is Max, so it seems odd that they'd even offer you a fixed rate option.
