Computer keeps stuttering, feels like the HD is going in to sleep mode or something.

For example i'll click on a website, have a read, then open a new tab, then nothing happens, the computer makes a little noise, 'muurrrh' then the tab loads up.

I cannot see why this should be doing this, from what i can remember its a pretty recent thing, and it doesn't happen when there's constant activity such as FM.

It will probably do it now when i post this.

Any ideas?

Edit: It didn't maybe not long enough

Windows 7 64b
Raptor 150gb

does your cpu support cool and quiet,or intels equivalant if it does try turning it off in bios could be a problem in there somewhere and it's not waking up properly so to speak.

Neither Speedstep, nor cool and quiet would make a "muurrrh" sound. Sounds more like the hard disks are being put to sleep, How are your power saving settings.

if that doesnt work ust do a simple hard drive check when starting windows,
my comp>C: drive or whatever one you want,>properties>tools>hard drive check, and that will ask if you want to schedule it for next time you start.

hope this helps:)

if you are talking about my previous post, it shouldnt take long if you have no faults but if there is a few then it may take a while, mine kept stettering and it took a good hour to resolve, after that though it ran silky smooth :D
