So I have been able to use the PS5 that I have relatively successfully with no issues at all - the way it is setup at the moment is the following,
  • The PS5 at the moment is stood on the floor, on a stand on the ground next to the TV, no problem and I have had no issue with this at all.
  • From the PS5 is a HDMI Cable that goes into a HDMI Splitter, and that is then connected into the TV, via a HDMI port on the side of the TV, again no problem with this at all.
And that has always been the case the above two things have; no problems in the past! However this past week when I have turned the TV on, and of course the PS5, the TV keeps flickering on/off and on the designated HDMI port it keeps flickering and one minute I can see the launch menu for the PS5, then it will flicker and just say "Sony" then back to black screen, before showing up as normal with the main screen of the PS5 menu. Previously it would stay on the designated HDMI port without flickering, I have taken all the HDMI cables out, checked them, no faults there!!! So what is happening? Any ideas, the HDMI cables are clean and have no faults either.

AAAGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

So then here is the issue. I have checked everything, with various HDMI ports etc, and checked the HDMI splitter etc, everything seems to be fine. Below is a following video, of the issue. Please also respect me or be more respectful as I have memory issues and I am in my late 80's and have dementia.

The TV restarted in that video, looks like an internal TV fault to me.

EDIT/ Try turning the tv timers off and any energy save features, you have an idle tv timer feature enabled that turns the tv off when left idle.
Ah but when it is on the HDMI1 port, which does not have the PS5 connected into it, no such problem at all, no flickering etc.

I agree with this - try resetting the video settings and again check if there are any firmware updates for TV if not already done so. I’ve had to reset the video settings before and it helped.
The software for the PS5 is up to date, the firmware for the TV is up to date.... AAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I tried the native PS5 HDMI Cable into the TV, Minus the splitter into HDMI 2, the port that it is within and the PS5 screen shows like normal, then it does the same thing with the screen as the video provided shows. IT IS NOT THE PS5 that is at fault............ AAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

Someone from Sony has said the following via live chat, And is it any wonder I am confused, All I want to do is to use the PS5, yet I can not.......... AAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

From the video, it looks like the TV loses signal from the HDMI connection.

Another day. More Confusion. Literally just used the PS5, the HDMI Cable that came with the PS5 like I said is connected into a HDMI Splitter, the HDMI Splitter is then in the 2nd HDMI Port on the TV, so HDMI 2. Just turned the PS5 on, and it came on, showing up with the launch screen on the TV, perfection, so ran a little test and managed to play a game on it, then of course it started to flicker again, like in the video - after some 10/15 minutes of gameplay. So could it be the PS5 HDMI Cable that is maybe faulty? After all I have had the PS5 for the best part of 2 to 3 years. If so which HDMI Cable should I look at getting?

Doesnt the PS5 have HDCP (high-bandwidth digital copyright protection) - Just checked it does. This can cause handshake issues...
Worth disabling it for troubleshooting (disabled certain streaming services such as netflix etc will not work as HDCP is somewhat designed to stop screen capture)

Shamelessly stolen from the web, in the PS5 menu do the following:
  • Go to Settings and then click on System
  • Choose HDMI to get a list of options
  • Turn off HDCP by hitting the toggle next to Enable HDCP
Test it with this disabled and see what happens :) If it works fine then its likely a device that is having issues with the HDCP handshake, most likely the splitter.
Tried that yesterday, and again with a new HDMI Cable, a High Speed One, got 15 minutes out of it before it went odd again!!!! AGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It’s just what we all go through to eliminate possibilities. A new cable may tell you nothing or it may tell you that the problem lies elsewhere or it might even work. Process of elimination. Cables can fail and there is no way to see or tell why that is. It just happens sometimes.

You’ve got four possibilities with a bad handshake from PS5 to TV.

Faulty PS5
Faulty cable
Faulty TV
Faulty splitter

A 5th could be software which means a reset of both PS5 and TV.
  1. The PS5 is not Faulty.
  2. Tried another new HDMI Cable, a High Speed One, and that works perfectly! However after 15 minutes, quelle surprise, the same thing that happened in the video happened, the TV started to flicker again.
  3. Faulty TV, eeerrrmmm, Why does it work with HDMI 1, then?
  4. Faulty Splitter, again I tried a new splitter yesterday, and the same thing happened.
AAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So it works consistently with hdmi port 1 on the tv but not port 2?
Yes the HDMI 1 port works perfectly, it is connected to something else, but no issue there. It is HDMI port 2, that seems to be causing issues, the PS5 is fine, the HDMI cable is fine, it is just the issue from the video I posted yesterday. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Also I used the new High Speed HDMI Cable, from the PS5 directly into the TV into HDMI 2, the secondary HDMI port and quelle surprise, it did the flickering............. AAAAAAAAGAGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So it sounds like the TV HDMI port 2 is faulty. Does it work if you run everything through the splitter into TV port 1?
Again I put the HDMI Splitter into HDMI Port 1, and with the new HDMI Cable, which is a high speed one, The same issue happened. What is plugged into HDMI 1 at the moment though is a Virgin Box, no issues. It is not the PS5 either as when I booted that up, the main starting screen appeared perfectly without any issues at all. Then of course with the HDMI Splitter which is not faulty, it then started to flicker again.

AAAAAAAAAAGAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

you said port 1 works fine with something else does it also work fine with the ps5?
HDMI Port 1, works fine with the Virgin Media Box thing. But with the PS5, again it was flickering.............. AAAAAAAAGAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It is certainly not the PS5
