Slightly random wireless Keyboard / Mouse question

Hi all,

Bit of a random question I am afraid but figured it was worth asking anyway.

I currently have a wireless microsoft mouse (not sure exactly which model but looks like the Microsoft Cordless Laser Mouse 6000) and I am now looking to get a wireless keyboard.

If I buy a Microsoft wireless keyboard should the mouse and keyboard be able to use the same wireless reciever?

Would be doubtful because they didn't come in a bundle, so they aren't designed to use the same receiver
