SLOTS FOR CROSSFIRE

I would think that you would have a really good case for sending these back and replaced with two 4890s that are able to run crossfire with just one slot between them.

As above, no reason why you shouldn't be able to get your money back / exchange for a pair that you can Xfire :)

If you could send them both back, how about waiting until september 10th to see what the new info of ATi's new cards is saying.

###the ultimate graphincs solution###

OK just been on the blower to OC and they are kindly letting me RMA "both" cards so I can continue my xfire /sli plight.

Now here is the real question.

Whats the best graphics get up going right now
2 nvidia in sli or xfire 4890's or what - sock it to me straight peeps. Im going to have a budget of around £400!!!!

Want a set up that will tear through crysis at "very high" and awsome frame rates - thanks guys

Get a time machine, go forward around 20 years or so and bring back a nice quantum computer, that might just scrape 45fps in crysis at very high :p

On a more serious note, I think the currently quickest setup would be 2x GTX285's in SLI, but as has been mentioned if you can wait till the end of september by then the 58xx series cards from ATi should be out, and they *should* beat a single GTX285, if not the GTX295 dual-core solution, so one or even 2 of them would be the new best setup, if you can wait that is...

thanks for that...
yeah been googling around. 2 x4890 seems to fair pretty well in terms of price vs cost. However I'm gonna do the right thing and wait to check the new cards and ship the old ones back and make my mind up in 2 weeks etc.

I would say don't get the 2gb 4890 over the top versions, get a pair of standard, cheap as you can 1gb 4890 cards. You'll save about £60 and they will fit!

Good! Wait two weeks, for £400 you'll be able to get some really nice and fast cards.
