Slow connection since BT problem

Hi All

A couple of weeks ago there was a fault at local BT exchange which took out my Broadband for three days. Since it came back up I have suffered with next to no download speeds. Before this I had a nice stable connection running around 4-5 meg.

In the last 10 days I have had 2 BT engineers out (one in house one in exchange) and they can find no problems anywhere. My profile has been renewed, D-res upped etc etc. Nothing seems to make a difference. To eliminate equipment failure I've tried a couple of different routers, a second PC, its all the same.

The strange thing is if I try to play an online game, (Bad Company 2) it plays perfectly with a Ventrilo voice server running too. However as soon as I go on the web I have problems. BT Speedtest shows a speed of 7kbps, despite my profile saying I could get 6megs. Also, my upload speed is fine. Streaming video on Youtube or anywhere else is impossible. Also I need to download a couple of new drivers for something and again when I try this I have no speed at all (3 or 4 kbps)

Has anyone any suggestions/ideas as this is driving me mad.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Dazza

Results from just a few moments ago.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 11 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :7584 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 6000 Kbps

Can you do a tracert to a website, lets say www.youtube.com for now as you have said thats really slow.

You may think this has nothing to do with it, but you could try changing your DNS servers to the OpenDNS ip addresses. Long short but worth a try?
