OK I just built a new PC and connected my old sata drive (its in an external enclosure). I installed a sata extension with faceplate in the case so it plugs into the back of the box. Now when I browse the disk it can be quite slow to open directories although it hasn't actually froze properly. I had no problems previously on my old pc but then the sata cable went straight to the mobo through a hole (ugly hack).
Do you think the extension could be causing the delay or is it more likely to be a problem with the sata port on the mobo? The main internal drive seems to be working fine.
