Guys,

I have owned my G.Skill Falcon for 4 months and initially I was getting in the region of 273000 read and 193000 write. Yeaterday I received my copy of Windows 7 and so installed it on the SSD, part of the build was to test the speeds and this was when I noticed that the speed has gone down to 253000 read and 125000 write.

I have always used the SSD Tweaker tool to optimise performance, this included turning off defrag and system restore. I have run the Trim command against the drive and this has not sped up the drive at all. I have also tried both IDE and AHCI modes to no avail. I am currently trying to return the drive under RMA as I believe the drive should stay within stated speed for at least the duration of a year, but they aren't playing ball so far.

Any ideas how to speed the drive up or what my situation would be regarding an RMA?

Cheers,

Blue

you need to re-flash the firmware. that's the only way to do a secure erase on the falcons. this will bring it back to stock speeds :)

I think Gskill are pretty close to releasing the new firmware, as it has apparently showed up in laptops with Falcons preinstalled. Might be worth waiting a few days/couple weeks

You say you have run the Trim cmd, did you use the Wiper tool and did you run it as an admin.... otherwise it won't have done anything...
I have had a 64gb Falcon for a few months now and a recent test after running wiper showed little or no change in speeds from the day I got it.
