Slow Gigabit Network

Hi,

I have a Netgeat G605 switch which connects two pcs together.

Both PCs (and the switch) support jumbo frames (I've checked to see this option is enabled too on both PCs)

However, when I copy a file from one PC to the other looking at the network utilization graphs in Windows task manager it seems the network is only being used at around 12%.

I didn't expect 100% or anywhere near that, due to overheads etc. But 12% seems a bit low?

Any ideas

Whats the write and read speed of the harddrives?

HD Tach (search Google). It might be worth checking the CPU usage via Task Manager when it is transferring (ctrl+alt+del, performance tab).

Thanks, will do.

The CPU usage is never more than about 30%, usually nearer 10%
