slow hard drive

hey guys,

been looking in to why my pc is feeling sluggish when opening games and transfering files i decided to benchmark my hard drive, i'm not to good with hard drive benchmarks and some what dont understand them, was hoping some 1 could tell me if it could be the cause to my system feeling sluggish and if so what hard drive i should buy.. thanks in advance

That is probably normal speed for that drive if you want a new one get a samsung f1 320gb will do 90mb sec average is quiet and cool.
Having said that I doubt it is your hard drive unless there's tonnes of stuff on there maybe a reformat is in order ?
 
Your HD is showing its age. Latest models are faster thanks to newer platter technology, etc like what C64 has mentioned is single-platter.

Recently carried out a HD Tune benchmark on a new 500GB HDs against a 1-year old (500GB) WD on same mobo...

New 500GB


Also, located same place inside case but new one runs 10° cooler :confused: More benchmarks here.
 
thanks for the replys guys i'll get on the case i think i'll go with a wd blue then maybe upgrade to another 1 some time in *** future and run raid 0.
