Have a BT Broadband router, connected to a Homeplug adaptor. Then have my PC and printer on separate adaptors. This has always worked fine with top notch download speeds. Recently added a linux server which in itself works fine, however the network transfer rates are rubbish and downloads seem to have suffered a bit.
The only network connection from the router is the one adaptor into the mains, so am I right in assuming that having too many adpators attached (via the mains) to the one adaptor into the router slows things down? I still haven't got my head round the idea of the router's adaptor effectively acting like some sort of switch, which it must do as there is only one connection going into the router.
If I bought another Homeplug adaptor and connected that to the router and paired it exclusively with the server (by changing the name in the configuration software) and then had the PC and printer connected as before to another adaptor into the router, would that speed things up?
