Hi guys,
I'm in need of some desperate help from any network gurus on here please. Basically my PC takes 5+ for Windows to settle and become usable upon starting up. The network icon in the system tray has a the spinning circle on it for ages and this should be pretty instant upon Windows starting up.
Because of this delay a lot of programs that use the internet connection on start-up get cued and Windows is unusable for a good 5 minutes sometimes more until an internet connection is found.
I'm on virgin media cable 20MB and had this problem for quite a while, I have disconnected my Netgear router and connected the cable modem directly to the PC and the problem persists, with the router connected wireless
devices have zero problem getting internet access within seconds.
I have cleared up start-up programs, uninstalled avast antivirus, steam etc and still can't find out what the slow down is. I really don't want to reformat at this moment in time. I'm using a realtek onboard lan card and have updated the drivers and even the firmware on the router.
I have looked on-line to no avail. PC specs in the sig.
Thanks
L
