Parents have a Panasonic CX700 and either on Wi-Fi or Ethernet I couldn’t get a Speedtest above 30Mbps, often lower. I have tested the power line separately and consistently get 100mbps.

Are the LAN ports that bad on these things or am I missing something?

Yes, they'll mostly only come with a 100mbps port.

Which is more than enough for UHD streaming anyway. BT Sports is the most bandwidth hungry service at upto 25-30 Mbps. They're not using much compression when it's live event. This compares to around 10-15 Mbps for UHD from Netflixs, Amazon etc because the source signal is rendered offline before being hosted.

You could give a TV a 10Gbps port and you'd still be unlikely to get more than 30Mbps on a speedtest. The speedtest results are a complete red herring.

So on slightly newer TVs (budget Samsung) I can get well over 100mbps via WiFi. Fact is were having issues on the TV with intermittent buffering and the speed test reflects this. Can be anywhere from 5mbit to 30mbits via wire. No other device has the issue.

From the same location? They're notoriously fickle so if you're testing it at a different socket to the one it's used with on the TV, you'll likely be getting a vastly different result.

Do you get the buffering on both WiFi and Lan? (Connected directly to the router). What speed is your home connection?
