I have a philips USB 2.0 stick, I have had it for ages, but its seriously way slower than any other USB2.0 sticks.

copy pasting files is about 4 times slower compared to other USB sticks, which is very annoying. I tried formatting it, etc that didnt change anything.

I recently installed "portable apps" on it, and on my mates USB stick all the apps take a few seconds to load, with me it takes 1 minute to load if not more.

Is it broken/faulty so that its so slow? or just a bad brand? :S

any info would be helpfull thanks

edit:

Any good brands you recommend? or are all brands the same whne it comes to USB sticks?

Have you checked it in other usb slots? By the looks if those transfer times you may be using a usb 1.1 port. Sorry if this is insulting it's just the only thing I can think of. It was the problem I was having recently anyway damn the g15 and usb 1.1 ports :(

Buy a new one.

I can recommend personally the Corsair Voyager and Voyager mini series. Cheap enough and fast enough, a good balance. They're solid too.

How large is your USB drive?
Large drive may take little more time but not that much slower.

Do not format the USB flash drive in NTFS that wear out the drive and slow down the performance.

Use FAT32 or Microsoft latest exFAT.

Hope this helps!

Connection doesn't matter if flash-chips themselves are cheap slow junks.

Also flash memory doesn't exactly cope well with writing of small files.

Well all the shops near me only have really crappy brands, so I might look around more (

the only "known" brand I could find was a 8gig Verbatim USB stick.

is that a good brand for USB sticks?
