My friend has a PC running windows xp home. He uses it a lot and his user profile is very quick to load. However when his parents try to use their profiles, they are very slow and take a fair while to load. They only use the PC maybe 3-4 times a month, where as my friend uses it about 2-3 times a day.

Any ideas?

To be honest I would have expected his to be the slower since it'll have more rubbish in the profile from constant use!

you could try running Ccleaner when logged in as his parents:

Only other thing I can think of is disabling fast user switching (I've always thought it was rubbish). It might be his profile that's slowing down his parents loading as they switch. Worth a try anyway!

No any virus on one profile would be pretty much as likely to hit the other ones as well, the only alternative is to make a brand new profile and see if it loads quickly (it wont the first time as it's being made as you log in).
