Slow windows

Hi guys have a Samsung r60 2 gig ram 128 gig hdd comp turns on ok but when I try to launch a program it can take anything upto 2 minutes to launch I clouding Internet explorer any ideas would be gratefully received

Thats why vista takes a min of 1gb to run so you effectively have only 1gb free what cleaners do you use on your comp and how often do you defrag and such?

Almost certainly an old slow HDD causing it, defrag it by all means and hell why not run Ccleaner whilst your at it but it's almost certain that you'd be better off getting an SSD. (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-notebook-portable,1913-3.html)

It'll make a word of difference to your PC as that old HDD is probably either on it's way out anyway or simple very old tech.

How old is the Windows install, i.e. how long have you been using it?

First reviews online for that model date from late 2007 so add in all the windows updates since and programs added/removed then that's probably part of the slow down but an SSD in addition to a clear install would sort it out

cheers guys ssd it is i already have a samsung in another laptop would a pro 840 would the same ssd fit this as that is connected via sata i think this one has serial ata ?

Just seen this for 85 quid would this fit the samsung r60plus i have checked but just want a second opinion

What KIA has said, realistically due to the age of the laptop you won't notice the difference between the SSDs in most cases but the link KIA supplied is one of the best bang-for-buck
