Having a problem on a small network with XP mapped shares.

When copying say a folder on the mapped drive with say 350MB data in it can take as long as 7 minutes!!

All the Nic cards are set to 100/full duplex connected via a switch.

I have searched google abit but its not brought me much luck in finding a solution.

what spec are the machines?
how many files are in the folders?
what av/antispyware programs are scanning all the time? (on both machines)
checked the cables?
is it def a switch, and not a hub?

(in my work (just started here) one office is about 8x hubs all daisy linked together -only 3 staff, but lots of test machines) the performance is shocking

the other office is wireless, not much better :S

:)

The server spec from which im copying from is

XP pro (fully patched and upto date)
Around 4000 files in folder
NOD32 on both pc's
CAT5E cable
Defo a switch, although the PSU is making a right old noice at the mo so its being replaced.

When you plug say an USB2 external HDD Into the server you can copy the data in about 20 seconds (data is important accounts stuff)
