Slowly replacing old PC

Hi,

I have a desktop PC a few years old now - it has an ATOM ION board or something? Anyway, I want to in the next year switch this out for a top of the range rig to do absolutely everything on - *coin mining, media server, gaming, web server, web design and all sorts of graphics/digital art, maybe even recording from my guitar.

Right now I wont even sit at the PC as the peripherals are so old and ugly so I want to start here by upgrading the monitor, mouse and keyboard - is there anything I need to take into consideration given my aims for the PC in the next year? In terms of connections or specific gaming/graphics features for a monitor?

Apologies I am out of date with ... everything! :(

Thanks for any help.
