I'm off to the LCCC (Lancashire County Cricket Club) on Saturday for the England v West Indies Test. Does anyone know if I'll be allowed in with my Canon 400D?

The tickets say that "the use of cameras, mobile phones, computers and other electronic equipment for commerical use and the recording, transmission or communication of match details, statistics, images etc., is not permitted other than with proper accreditation."

So does that exclude me totally because I can't prove that I'd just be taking pics of the day for me and not for sale?

You should be fine as long as you don't go in with a bag full of L glass and monopods. A 400D is hardly a professional spec camera, it's aimed at the consumer market so anyone in the know should let you in without a problem.

it'll just be my 400D + 18-55

You will be fine with that, sometimes the sports venues that say all photography is allowed as long as its not for commercial purposes will take issue with massive telephotos but this is more for concern about getting in peoples way than mistaking you for a pro.

You will be fine with a 400D and kit lens, infact I think you would be fine with a rocket launcher from my experiences of Lancashire :p

I wouldn't be too sure of that, i went to a concert a few weeks ago and took my dating canon 10D, i was told i was not allowed to use it as it's classed as a 'professional' camera as the lens is removeable, what made me laugh, was everyone with their 10mp compact cameras with 10x optical zoom was allowed :D

Thanks. More reinforcement of Scuzi's opinion.

Is the 18-55 going to be long enough for cricket?
Nope. Haven't had time to get a longer lense. I'll just take pics of the cricket as well as I can but perhaps mainly the grounds and so on. Hoping to get the Sigma 17-70 sometime over the summer which would have been a bit better but not that much.

Im planning on taking my d40 and tele to a cricket match later on in the year (55-200mm but very compact).

I don't think i'll have a problem because of my age and i'll be with family. (Was my dads BD present :D)

You should be fine even with telephoto gear providing the photos are not to be used for commercial use. This is certainly the case at Trent Bridge as i have taken my gear to many international games there and parked up just behind the boundary.

Hmmm, I live down the road from TB and was going to pop down this summer to get some good shots, just a practice really for general sports depending on the weather. You go there often? Would be good to sit along with someone who knows what they're doing ;)

You reckon 300mm would be enough?
