Hi all.

I built a computer for my parents yesterday with Windows XP installed.

I've noticed in device manager that under "other devices" there is a device called "SM Bus Controller" which is not showing a driver installed.
A quick google search shows that it's something to do with the chipset driver. However, I've installed the latest chipset driver from the Gigabyte website (9.1.2.1007 dated 29/04/2010).

What is the SM Bus Controller and where can I get a driver for it?

Have you tried the -OVERALL switch, if not then try this > put the .exe on to C: drive and then open a command prompt and type C:\filename.exe -OVERALL and prees enter, this will search for "all" intel devices and should install all intel drivers including the "SM Bus Controller", if this doesn't work then download the chipset drivers from the intel website in .zip format and install the "SM Bus Controller" using device manager.

Hope this helps!
