Wife has decided she's bored with her 2012 Skoda Fabia & wants something newer.

She's set herself a budget around 12-15k depending on how much she likes the car, spec etc.
A few of the criteria I've been given already are as follows

No older than 4 years but would prefer under 3
No Vauxhalls
No Minis
No MG
No BMW (already said she won't get one for that price)
No Fiat 500
Doesn't want another Skoda, not because it's been a bad car (it's been excellent) but just bored with it

I've looked at the obvious (to me anyway!)

Fiesta ecoboost
Hyundi i20
Seat
Peugeot 208
Nissan Micra
Focus (although I think she'll say too big)
Polo (isn't this just a fabia with a polo badge though)

Going to start going round a few dealers to look & sit in a few cars but are there any I've not thought of in this bracket?

Doesn't do high milage, probably 4k a year & isn't a sporty driver

Welcome for any suggestions

From those, probably a very decent spec Fiesta. Or she might just about squeeze (budget wise) into a Puma which is still small, relatively practical for its size and fun to drive.

In essence, yes, it is - Fabia, Ibiza, Polo and A1 are all part of the same market segment from VW.

That said, the Fabia did previously use older platforms in comparison (the 2012 example you have being based on the Polo platform introduced in 2002), so moving to a 2017 onwards generation Polo (or Seat Ibiza) would probably be a decent step forward in various aspects.

Thanks for the suggestions, after having a look at a few vehicles today, we've put a deposit on a 2019 Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost 125 st line
Very nice spec, & after the trade in with the Fabia it comes to £12K

Almost spat my dinner out then - I don't think I paid £8k brand new for my Mum's 1.0 EcoBoost but then I realised the 2017 model is the MK7.5 not the MK8.

Cracking cars, I've had about 5 or 6.

Yeah prices are silly at the moment, I never thought we'd be paying 12k for a 3 year old small hatchback but that's the way of things at the moment

Still the wife is happy so as they say, happy wife happy life :D

For sure - and FWIW I get/used to get Ford Privilege so that £8k was heavily discounted.
