small case basics question

if you buy a shuttle then it will have the mother board with it so all you need to do is to get memory, cpu, graphics card and so on, some shuttles have video on the main board already as well as sound.

i am switching from a desktop to a shuttle in the next week or so.

MicroATX systems need everything a full ATX one would - although you can fit a microATX board into an ATX case if that kinda thing floats your boat! :D

Shuttles, as Tony said, come as a case/motherboard/cpu cooler combo, so you just pop your CPU, RAM, video card, and drives in, and you're ready to go.

Generally the Shuttles are smaller than the microATX cases, however with a Shuttle you lose a degree of diversity (you can't swap the case without swapping the motherboard etc).

i think im looking at a micro tower actually. I'll be running a core2 e2180 overclocked with a x1950pro. Figure I'll need 400w power supply, but the maxiumum power supply Ive seen for a micro atx system is 300W? I

also need to be ablt to fit two hard drives.

If your going for a micro tower i would recommend the siverstone sugo sg03.

Oh, chap in the shop said the micro atx case that I was looking at (which had a 200w psu built in) needs a micro atx psu!

Sorry, should've specified budget as well - £40 max. Dont need anything spectacular.

Save a bit more dosh & get a Sugo 01, they are well made & plenty of room inside. Also nearly any PSU will fit, inc modulars.
