Ok, am at work and been given a task I'm struggling with.

We have 4 CCTV cameras at our work which are linked to a DVR and networked so you can access them from a web client using a username and password.

Now, on any PC using Windows XP I can open up internet explorer, add the IP address of the main CCTV unit to the security exceptions list, enable activeX for that site, and it will prompt me for a login and I can get access no problem.

However, when I do the same with a PC running windows 7 it pops up an error saying "failed login" even although it's the same username and password I used to logon from the XP machine.

As far as I can make out the CCTV system uses EnNet software and CMS to control the cameras (if you don't want to use the web client), but I can only find EnNet 2.5 online and can't get it to connect on either XP or Win7. Any thoughts peeps?

Maybe an IE 8 / IE 9 thing - have you tried using Firefox or Chrome from the W7 PC? It rings a bell that it's a TLS support thing I've seen on some routers.

Tried using Firefox and Opera but just get a black screen and nothing loads even after adding the IP address to the safe zone. Will try Chrome and see what it does.

I tried flicking into developer mode (F12) on IE and could switch to IE8 but would then get an overflow stack error?

That sounds very similar to the issue I've got here. A workaround I use is I've pinned the link to the DVR on the start menu, I'll make sure that Internet Explorer is not open and then I'll click on the link that takes me directly to the DVR, I've also got compatibility mode turned on.

System is Windows 7 x64, IE9.

I've had some trouble where accessing a DVR where I've had to effectively drop any kind of security on the Active X settings. Might be similar?

Does the shortcut take you straight to the IP address of the DVR or the DVR program?

Sometimes you need a username and password to access the DVR and another set of credentials to bring up the site (set of CCTV camera's). Does yours on require one set?

Yes the shortcut is the IP address used by the DVR, this is the only way I can get it to log in and not show me 4 blank screens.

Out of curiosity I tried logging in on an XP machine running IE8 and it works first time no matter which way I get to the DVR login screen. Unfortunately the DVR I use won’t let me access it through any other browser.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I ended up uninstalling IE9 from Windows 7 through windows update. Loaded up IE8 and it worked first time! Wouldn't work in Chrome, Opera or Firefox.
