Small Decking Area Query

Hi all,

Newbie here! I have a small area (1265mm x 1530mm) at the back of my garden which abutts my shed.

It currently is a flower bed but .

To prepare the ground my plan is to dig out the topsoil strata and then lay a weed-proof membrane and put some gravel and slabs on top.

Is there anything else you suggest I do? Shall I blitz the area with weedol before laying the membrane?

No need for weedkiller - no light, no weeds. Weed matting and gravel/slabs mean no plants can grow.

Just to hijack a bit, any recommendations on a decent weed matting?
