So long story short

I picked up my Zetec back in April (59 plate - 23.5k miles on the clock)

Now I've been driving it mainly in/around Leeds for most of that time so slower speeds etc (as you can imagine with rush hour traffic) however in the last few weeks I've been out for some longer journeys due to certain reason I have noticed when in second/third and accelerating it almost feels like possibly the clutch is slipping (not that I know much about cars in all honesty) and by this it almost feels like you get the power then its not there and then its back again - its very minor but noticeable

As above I know very little when it comes to bits like this thus I assume it could be a whole host of things so any simple checks I could go for would be grea

Simple way to test if the clutch is slipping.

Get to 40MPH, shove car in 5th, plant foot to the floor on the accelerator.

If the car revs up to/near the redline without any change in speed, then your clutch is slipping. If the revs stay linear with the increase in speed, then it's fine.

Perfect I'm already 100% sure that doesn't happen so I guess I'll get it booked in for a checkup (infact I should take it back to the dealer and get them to check)

Sounds like some kind of hesitation to me. Likely caused (as said by oliver) by some sensor. What that sensor is will be hard to tell without error/fault code scanning the car, but it could be MAF, throttle position sensor, camshaft position sensor.

Is it a petrol or diesel? If it's a petrol it could be a dodgy coil and/or plug.

Well for anyone interested the dealer I got the car from is taking it in Friday morning to test drive it under 2 different scenarios and plug it in to diagnose if there are any faults (apparently this is part of the free health check I am entitled to within the first year!)

Just an update, it went in - was test driven / diagnostics run and they found nothing.

I still feel there is an issue and it maybe worse now so I am thinking about taking it back!
