Hey all,

I have a bit of a frakenstein computer at the moment with different bits and pieces I have upgraded as needs be. About to stretch out and go for the CPU/Mobo/RAM upgrade.

Current spec:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz
RAM: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3
Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
GFX: Asus GeForce GTX 1070 Dual OC 8192MB GDDR5 (This was an upgrade last January when my old GFX snuffed it and I had full intentions of upgrading the rest of the PC in February, then I decided to buy a holiday to Vegas instead)
PSU: I don't exactly but its a Corsair modular PSU (650W I believe, it was upgraded at the same time as the GFX but bought from a high street retailer)

I have the following hard drives:
Corsair Force GS 128GB 2.5" SATA 6Gbs Solid State Hard Drive
Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB SATA 6Gbs 64MB Cache
Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB SATA 6Gbs 64MB Cache

I wish I was as up to date with technology and what's good, but with work I don't have time to try and catch up with everything that is good.

So anyway budget i'd like to stick to around £700 preferably.

I'd seen the following:

Any recommendations on anything to spend the money on instead? I'd like to stick with intel rather than AMD, just due to personal preference.

Well it is a really easy way to just buy a full kit of parts. Course you could probably source things cheaper or a bit better, but the kits are very handy. I would add £40 to that price to replace the fans. The Corsair ML PRO fans are vastly superior to the standard ones fitter to that cooler. Personally I really hate the stock fans they make more noise than a chinook helicopter in a death spiral. The ML PRO are good but not too pricey and actually cool better than the stock fans. They also have an extremely wide range of operation so you can blast the heck out of the radiator if you really want insane cooling, but, perhaps more importantly, they have almost half the lower limit RPM should you want the noise to fall within international sonic weapon limitations.
