Hope one of you guys can help.
Recently when turning on my computer, it won't start. Nothing comes up on the screen and the screen itself goes into standby. I don't hear any hard drive movement, but the lights on my cd/dvd drive flash.

Is it time to replace the h/d, or is it another problem??
Thanks y'all

Could possibly be your gfx card.....is there another card you could try and as you said, it could be your HDD, is this is the case, then try another if you can....

I don't think it is the h/d as it should still start up and tell you it couldn't find an OS. Have you installed anything new recently?

Correct if it was the hard disc you would see the bios on screen as it posts and then get an invalid boot disc message.
Sounds like the graphics card, have you tried removing the graphics card and reseating it, it may simply have come loose over time.

If you have onboard use them. If you still don't get anything you can rule out the graphics card.

Does your processor fan start when you power up the system?

I'm water-cooled, so no fan. all my other fans start up though, and the pump (I think, it's very quiet). I have a pci card I could try.I'm using an A8n-sli deluxe, so no onboard video, but I do have a PCI card I could try. It's a bit tight in my case though with 1/2 inch pipes.

Right, finally tried a PCI card, as my computer now refuses to post at all. I also tried just one stick of ram. I don't have an internal speaker, so getting no beeps.
I have noticed that my southbridge hsf doesn't work. It may have been like this for a while. What are the chances it's a motherboard problem. I think my psu is ok as I managed to boot another system with it.
