ok ive just bought another sata hard drive to sit along side my original one, and having installed it i still only see one C drive. i was expecting another, although this is my first time using multiple hard drives so im not sure.

any ideas? another way to access it?

thanks,

Have you checked in Disk Management yet? If not then you probably need to format it (assuming it has been recognised in the bios) so go Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management. Have a look there first, if it doesn't appear as an unformatted volume then come back and say what you do have there.

thanks for the reply m8y.

The drive has been recognised by a few programs and in the bios.

this is what i see:

would creating a partition do anything? or is a format needed.

thanks again.

As rctneil says, just select the unallocated drive and create a partition. Then you're good to go. Once you've created the partition you could format but it probably isn't necessary unless Windows prompts you to do so.
